Parenting Workshop: The ABCs of LGBTQs and everything you need to know to answer your kids’ questions

Apoplectic about anti-gay policies? Baffled by the bathroom issue? Confused by cisgender?  This grown-ups-only workshop is a fun and affirming opportunity to learn about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer community so we can be prepared to answer our kids’ questions and build a world where we can all be who we are. Come as you are. Bring all your questions.

About our presenter:

Miriam Yeung is a 20 year veteran of the LGBT and gender justice movements. She started her career as a youth worker at the NYC LGBT Community Center helping create safer school environments for LGBT youth people and families. She helped author the NYC and NYS Dignity for All Students Act and developed the DOE’s first ever LGBT cultural competence training. Most recently she was the executive director of the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, the nation’s only national organization dedicated to organizing and advocating with Asian American and Pacific Islander women, girls, transgender and gender non-conforming people for reproductive rights, immigrant rights, and economic justice. She is also Abby Shaw’s partner and Penelope and Lulu’s baba.
