TRANSITION TO AFTERSCHOOL
The Afterschool Program starts when school dismisses at 2:40pm, and runs until 6pm. The program does not operate when the school is not in session. Camps are available most school holidays, including Summer break. Please consult the Calendar section of this website for semester dates.
GRADES PRE – K – 1
At the end of the school day, students in the lower grades are picked up directly from their classrooms by the afterschool staff and escorted to their respective home base. At 3:15 students join their first period activities followed by free-play in the Yard (weather permitting).  Between 4:45 and 5:30 children participate in second period classes. All children are encourage to try-out different specialty workshop throughout the semester. This age group is not required to select classes during registration except for Tennis and Swimming.
GRADES 2-5
At the end of the school day, the older children walk down to the Auditorium and the Gymeteria with their teacher. Once they reach the dismissal area, the students attending the afterschool program are asked to join our staff. Attendance is taken before students are called for first period classes. Between 4:15 and 4:30 children transition into second period activities. Students in this age group are asked to select first and second period Activities during registration.
FOOD ALLERGIES
Children who have food allergies or dietary restrictions should bring their own snack.
DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Afterschool dismissal takes place in the Gymeteria between 5:40 and 6pm.  If you need to pick up your child before this time, our receptionist will verify your child’s location and give you pick-up instructions. This process may take a few minutes since activities utilize rooms across all six floors of the building. Thank you for your understanding.
SAFETY & PICK UP
Please use the Stairwell Entrance on Hudson Street. Only adults listed on the Authorized Pick Up roster will be allowed to pick up children. They will be asked to show a photo ID (this requirement will be waived once they are recognized by the staff) and sign the Dismissal Form. This is a safety procedure.
LATE PICK UP POLICY
If you arrive after 6:00 pm and the door is closed, please ring the bell.  At 6:01 pm, following cell phone time, late fees of $1.00 dollar per minute go into effect. The money is paid directly to the staff member who had to wait for you. Our staff will give you a receipt indicating the date, amount paid and balance (if applicable). Balances must be paid in full within 48 hours to avoid suspension of services. Thank you for your understanding and full compliance.
RULES OF CONDUCT
We promote and encourage an attitude of respect for peers, students, staff, teachers and the school community in general. Parents, guardians, and other adults affiliated with PS 3 families (nannies, relatives or friends) are expected to set an example of these behaviors at all times. This includes following directives and giving our staff their full cooperation. All communications with PS 3 ’til 6 personnel, whether verbal or written, should be courteous and respectful at all times. PLEASE NOTE ** As educators, we take the rules of conduct very seriously. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the suspension of services. Thank you for your understanding and full cooperation.
COMPLIANCE WITH GUIDELINES AND POLICIES 
PS 3 ’til 6’s primary concern is the safety and well-being of the children in our care. Therefore the staff cannot allow behavior and activities that are unsafe or disruptive. All students and families must be committed to constructive participation and appropriate behavior, and willing to abide by the guidelines established by the program. The Afterschool administration has the unrestricted right to terminate a student’s enrollment at its sole discretion due to behavior issues or failure of the student or the student’s family to comply with our guidelines and policies.
