Village Kids programs are carefully designed to ensure children are both physically active and intellectually engaged. Our camps offer fitness, dance, sports, science, technology, visual arts, cooking, recreation and free play. Chess Club is an integral part of all camps and is open to all ages and levels, including children who have never been exposed to the game. Sessions include mini lessons, puzzles, supervised play, and friendly matches. Swim instruction at the McBurney YMCA and fun Water Days are offered weekly during our summer program. Tennis classes can be added during camp registration for an extra fee.
Outdoor expeditions are an important component of all camps. Neighborhood walks and picnics to nearby parks are scheduled on a regular basis (weather permitting). Thematic field trips, tailored to the interests and abilities of different age-groups, provide enrichment opportunities that are both fun and engaging. Disciplines covered include Visual Arts, Urban Design and Environment, NYC History & Architecture, Science and Technology, Wildlife, Natural Habitats and Conservation.

490 Hudson Street (PS 3) is the home base for all Camps. The building includes a large outdoor playground which is used daily for sports, games and recreation (weather permitting). Air-conditioned classrooms ensure that everyone is comfortable when we have indoor activities during the summer.  Campers travel to the McBurney Y on 14th Street for instructional swimming, and nearby parks such as JJ Walker and the Hudson River Parks and Piers for picnics, water sprinklers, mini-golf, and other fun recreational activities.
